Medical records

This just up from the AP:

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Sarah Palin's doctor in Alaska says she's in excellent health with no known health issues that would interfere with her ability to function as vice president if she and Republican John McCain are elected Tuesday.

McCain's campaign released a summary of Palin's medical history Monday night.

Palin's personal family physician, Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, says Palin has only been hospitalized for childbirth. Palin is 44 and has five children. She gave birth to her fifth child, son Trig, earlier this year.

Palin had a breast biopsy in 1992 for what turned out to be a benign lesion. Her vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse, have been normal.

The doctor also said Palin takes no routine prescription medications and exercises regularly.

OK, so here's my question: Was Baldwin-Johnson's statement that "she has only been hospitalized for childbirth" or was it "she gave birth to her fifth child..." etc.

Still looking.

This from CNN:

(CNN) — Just hours before Election Day, the McCain campaign released a summary of Gov. Sarah Palin’s health — a physician’s letter saying the vice presidential candidate is in “excellent health.”

Palin was the last contender on the presidential tickets to release her medical history in some form.

The November 3 letter from her physician, Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, says, “Governor Palin is in excellent health and has no known health problems that would interfere with her ability to carry out the duties and obligation of Vice President of the United States of America.”

Thanks for this Audrey. They are really unbelievable...releasing it so late that no questions can really be asked, clearly her MO. Also, she was supposedly "cleared" of any wrongdoing in the 2nd Troopergate report. What a frustrating situation. I still have hope it will all unravel eventually.

Precisely! This paragraph could easily be read in two voices - one, the relayed message from CBJ about hospitalization, and two, the voice of the author of the whole piece who, bye-the-by just adds that Palin has 5 children etc.

It is a very slippery piece.

I suppose the reason it took so long for this information to be released was that it has taken until now to find the bunker that CBJ has been hiding in!

Yes, it certainly does appear that they put a lot of time, effort, and energy into this statement. I guess that's what took so long.

The NYTimes has a pdf of the actual letter from her doctor which goes into some detail about Sarah's gestation and the birth of Trig. It seems like the letter was written to end the speculation.

I still think she's a nutjob.

B-J's assertions, as anonymous #2 implies, are generalized and unsourced. Still, B-J does put her reputation and potentially her license at risk if it's later demonstrated that Trig was not SP's child and that B-J knowingly made false statements in this letter. The letter's main purposes are to fulfill Palin's promise to release her "records" and to allow her campaign and supporters to call us skeptics kooks. And do so without addressing her birth saga's improbabilities. And the long "gestation" of the letter becomes one more puzzle. What impeded its release months ago?

Here is a link to the complete letter written by Cathy Baldwin-Johnson. She does state that SP gave birth to Trig.

A birth certificate will probably follow now, and whether Palin delivered or adopted immediately will not, of course, be recorded. However, Baldwin-Johnson has completely certified the account. I will go back and reread it--I guess saying Trig was born at 35 weeeks gestation sounds official, but how exactly is it phrased? and why issue this one hour before midnight,or close to that, the day before the election?
